Morris Mini Cooper 1275S Mk.1 – OTB

I've always had a soft spot for this timeless classic by Sir Alexander Issigonis. I had twenty dollars to burn one day at the local hobby shop and this is what came home with me. This is an old kit but all the pieces are there. At first I though I was missing the engine but realized that the powerplant was tiny, but sure enough it was there on the sprue.

The main mod I made would be the hood of the car. There was a substantial gap between sides of the hood and the fenders. I resorted to applying styrene card to the edges of the hood and then trimming the excess off. It was a really quick solution and I was really happy with the result. I wanted a color that popped and Tamiya TS-54 Light Metallic Blue seemed to fit the bill, while keeping the roof white. Chassis wise I added cables for the brakes and gave the interior a grey/white theme.

Other than a paint touch up on the body, most of the chassis components are complete. The engine needs wiring for the distributor but all in all not too much left on this one. I think this would be a fine candidate for the12.
