VW New Beetle

Ah, the New Beetle. Some love it, some hate it. I decided to build it. Was one of my first Tamiya kits and it went together with ease. I was really impressed with the level of detail as I was used to Revell, Monogram and AMT kits at the time. The rubber for the wheels was extremely realistic, the vehicle's stance was spot on, instructions were clear and I thought the die-cut masks for the windows was a nice touch.

I knew from the beginning it had to be silver and Tamiya TS-17 Aluminum Silver was used. I wanted my Beetle lightly modified so the brake calipers were painted Ford Engine Blue while the mag wheels were given a coat of Model Master Dark Anodonic Grey.

The New Beetle compliments the Golf well as both are from the same era and still look good today.
